Story
Meet Rune, a 2-year-old male pit bull terrier mix with a gentle heart and a resilient spirit. He is brown and white, weighs about 60 pounds, and has a sturdy, lovable presence that quickly grows on you. Rune can be timid when he first meets new people or enters new spaces, but once he feels safe, his true personality shines through. He becomes a happy-go-lucky love bug who enjoys affection, curiosity-driven exploring, and especially his cookies. He loves being near his people and soaking up attention at his own comfortable pace. Rune has a neurological condition that can occasionally cause him to lose his balance and flop to the floor. It may look surprising at first, but Rune takes it in stride. He pops right back up and carries on with his adventure, undeterred and upbeat. His plucky attitude and determination are part of what make him so special. Rune would do best with a patient, understanding adopter who can offer him kindness, consistency, and a soft spot to land. In return, he offers loyalty, sweetness, and a whole lot of heart. If you are looking for a resilient companion with a gentle soul and an affectionate nature, Rune may be the perfect match. Story
Junie is a beautiful 1-year-old mixed breed weighing about 60 lbs of pure love. This sweet girl is spayed, crate trained and fully house broken, making her an easy addition to a home ready for a loyal companion. Junie is a sweetheart — gentle, loving, and full of happy energy. She enjoys walks, hikes, and playing fetch, but she’s also perfectly content relaxing at home with her people. A mile walk or 20 minutes of fetch in a fenced yard is enough to make her very happy. Junie has lived successfully with adults, including a couple in their 50s, their adult son, and later an elderly family member in her 80s whom she absolutely adored. As the household became busier with nurses, caregivers, visitors, and constant activity, Junie became more easily startled and anxious. She does best when she has a quiet space to decompress during busy times and is very comfortable relaxing in a crate or separate room when guests or workers are visiting. She can be somewhat sound sensitive in hectic environments, especially when multiple noises are happening at once, but she continues to make great progress with positive reinforcement and confidence-building exercises. She has lived with another dog and has enjoyed playing with certain dogs, especially calm, friendly dogs with good communication skills. Some dogs make her nervous, so thoughtful introductions are important. One of Junie’s best qualities is her temperament in the home. She is not possessive over food, toys, or bones and happily trades items with her “give” cue. Junie is incredibly smart and well-trained. She knows: • Sit • Down • Wait • Leave it • Touch • Paw / Other Paw • Catch • Find it • Get your toy • Bring it • Drop it • Give She is an excellent walker on a harness and understands cues like “let’s go.” Junie would thrive in an adult household that respects her sensitivity and gives her space to relax when life gets busy. She is not the type of dog who would enjoy crowded breweries, busy shopping areas, or constant activity, but in the right environment she is an incredibly loving, loyal companion. She is a wonderful dog looking for people who will appreciate her sweet nature and help her feel safe and understood.
