Story
Please contact Cathleen (cathleen.pronc@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Http:/www.pugrescuenc.com/images/PRONC_Express.jpgWe are looking for the perfect special needs forever family. Ava deserves the very best!!    We are excited to announce that Vintage Fur Senior Dogs Inc is going to Sponsor Ava ONCE SHE IS ADOPTED!! This does not cover her while she is in rescue it starts once she is in her forever home. So if you're on the fence about adopting maybe this will help as all dogs deserve a great forever home!   This means that Ava’s veterinary expenses are partially covered by Vintage Fur Senior Dogs Inc! Ava will receive $600 every year in veterinary coverage for the rest of her life. This money may be used to treat conditions and treatments including prescription medication, bloodwork, imaging and more. To learn more about the sponsorship, please contact Pug Rescue NC or visit https://www.vintagefur.org   The rescue can still use your support monthly until her forever family steps forward! Thank you all   update: Ava had her cardiology appointment yesterday. The cardiologist said that the slow rate that she is in is safer than a real fast rate. The doctor feels her heart issue is related to untreated BOAS (brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome). Unfortunately, she does not feel she is safe to undergo surgery. We will just treat her symptom’s, so she started her on theophylline oral in addition to her hydrocodone for cough. The theophylline will help her breathe better and will also increase her heart rate. We hope this will keep Ava more comfortable. The Theophylline is $70.75 and the hydrocodone homatropine is $42 monthly for life another update: On exam for her spay the vet detected a heart arrythmia. She has an appointment in 3 weeks with a cardiologist. This will need to be addressed and see what options there are for treatment. More to come on this sweet girl.   Update: I am finally over my pneumonia after 2 rounds of antibiotics. I do have severe collapsed trachea and will be on prescription medication for my cough for life. I am still very selective on my eating so my foster mom is working on that. The plan is for my spay with a doctor that is experienced with dogs with collapsed trachea. Once this is done and I am medically cleared my foster mom will go through all the applications for me to select the best possible home for me.  Ava is a 7.6 year old black pug. She has an upper respiratory infection or early pneumonia, and bilateral ear infections. We are concentrating on making her well. Its hard to learn their personality with they come in sick. Ava was bulled in her last home so she fearful of other dogs. She would be best as an only dog or a home with an older dog her size that will give her space.  Ava will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on routine shots, heartworm negative and current on prevention prior to adoption. Fostered in Virginia Beach, VA adoption fee is $300.00. Please put in your adoption application on our website www.pugrescuenc.org under the available pugs tab. Pugs most be indoor dogs. We only adopt to NC, VA and surrounding states. Adopt A Pet. . .  Save A Life!http://www.apugrescue.org Http://www.pugrescuenc.org Email us:  admin@pugrescuenc.org      July 26, 2026, 9:23 pm
