Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old and weighs 121 lbs. He was very thin when he first came to us but is now at his perfect weight. He is neutered, up to date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence, and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He also has an obsession with deer! For that reason, a privacy fence would be ideal if you have deer around your home. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. He is learning commands like sit and stay and he really tries to please! This is what his foster mom says about him " Charlie is amazing. He is housebroken, loves to be hugged, hasn’t chewed anything up, likes to play but is content just to chill. He walks beautifully on a leash and likes to say hi to everyone he meets. Charlie enjoys sitting and looking out the window, hanging around in the kitchen especially when I’m cooking and going for car rides". Although this breed is known for having a stubborn streak, Charlie seems to understand a few commands wait, it’s ok, no, come, let’s go and he will even sit for a treat. But his favorite is Good Boy Charlie❤️" This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet! If you would like to be Charlie’s forever family, please email dogs4mylife@ gmail.com or olmc7@ hotmail.com. If you are inquiring from a Gmail address, It is best to use our Gmail address, or you might have to look for us in your spam.

Story
Armani, affectionately called Ari, is one of those little dogs who quietly steals your heart. At just 3 years old and 17 pounds, this sweet Schnauzer has discovered something entirely new in his life: what it feels like to be safe, loved, and part of a family.Ari spent most of his life living outside with an elderly couple who had taken in far more dogs than they could manage. When the local shelter became involved and asked for help, Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in, and Ari finally found himself in a foster home. In only 12 days, this gentle little boy has made an incredible transformation. His foster mom, Taj, says he is wonderfully well behaved in the house and doesn't chew, steal, or get into things he shouldn't. He sleeps quietly through the night and is learning that a crate can be a safe and comfortable place. Even more touching, the frightened, shaking little dog who first arrived is beginning to greet his foster family and ask for affection.Ari is still learning how to relax and truly let himself become part of a family. New people can make him nervous, and he is learning to trust that the world is a safe place. But he is making progress every single day. He loves being near his people and will happily follow them from room to room, even if he hasn't quite decided that being a lapdog is his thing yet.One of Ari's greatest joys is playing with other dogs. He loves to run and romp in the yard until he is completely worn out, and then he is perfectly content to settle down for a peaceful rest. Because other dogs give him confidence and help show him the way, we believe he would thrive with a confident, playful canine companion in his new home. He is learning house manners, leash walking with a harness, and potty training, and his doggie friend is helping teach him the proper way to do things.Ari is a smart, gentle boy who is eager to please. He doesn't need someone to expect him to become confident overnight. He simply needs someone willing to give him patience, kindness, and the time to discover who he can become. In just 12 days, he has already shown us so much of his sweet personality. Imagine what the next few months could bring when this little boy finally knows, without a doubt, that he is home.Armani is fostered in Nashville, Tennessee and is ready to transport to the right family. If you think you might be the person who can help Ari finish the journey from a frightened little dog to a beloved family member, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 25, 2026, 8:26 pm

Story
Meet Maple — A Little Terrier With a BIG Heart!Maple is one of those special dogs who seems to love everyone she meets. At 8 years old and 16 pounds, this sweet Terrier mix has the most loving heart and an easygoing, happy personality that makes her an absolute joy to be around. She especially adores children and would love to be part of a family where she can stay busy, have adventures, and then curl up with her people when the day is done.Maple is the total package when it comes to the important stuff—she is house trained and crate trained, and she is ready to be your devoted companion from day one. She does pull a little on the leash because she gets excited about all the wonderful things there are to see and smell, but she loves going for walks and is eager to explore. With some consistent training and a confident handler, we think she will learn those leash manners in no time. And Maple is definitely not looking for a life spent sitting on the couch all day! This girl has energy and she wants to use it. She loves hiking, running with her person, going for long walks, and simply being outside enjoying the world. A securely fenced yard is required because she loves having the freedom to safely run and explore off leash. Her recall still needs some work, so her future family will need to continue working with her on that. The perfect family for Maple would be active people who enjoy getting outside and want a four-legged adventure buddy. She would be wonderful for someone who hikes, runs, walks regularly, or simply wants a dog who is excited to join them in an active lifestyle. She could thrive with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children. But here’s the best part about Maple: once she has had her exercise, explored the world, and spent time with her people, she is perfectly happy to settle down and cuddle. She has that wonderful Terrier spirit during the day and turns into the sweetest snuggle buddy when it’s time to relax. ❤️Maple is ready for someone who will give her the active, happy life she deserves—and in return, she will give you companionship, laughter, loyalty, and plenty of love.If Maple sounds like your kind of girl, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Story
If fluffy, funny, affectionate puppies are your weakness, you may want to stop right here — because Maxine is about to steal your heart. This adorable Great Pyrenees mix girl was born in early June and, despite being just a few months old, she has already developed quite the personality. Maxine is playful, curious, smart, affectionate, and just a tiny bit opinionated — in the most entertaining puppy way possible!Maxine and her sister were discovered wandering onto a family’s property in the Indiana countryside. Rather than sending these little girls into an already overcrowded shelter, Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in and gave them a safe place to grow and flourish. And Maxine has wasted no time showing everyone what a special puppy she is.She is a confident little girl who loves to explore and be involved in whatever is happening around her. She has a playful streak and isn't afraid to let her foster siblings know when she is ready for some fun, but she is also respectful of the Poodle mix girls she lives with. She has happily settled into life as the youngster of the household, bringing plenty of puppy energy and entertainment to her more independent foster sisters.Maxine is also proving to be a very good student. She is being crate trained, learning to walk on a leash, and is already sleeping through the night. With consistent guidance, she is picking up new things quickly. Good food, proper care, deworming, and lots of love have helped her grow stronger and more confident every day.And then there is that fluff!Maxine has the unmistakable beginnings of the gorgeous Great Pyrenees coat, along with the chunky little puppy body that makes you want to scoop her up and cuddle her. We believe she may grow to around 70 pounds, so her adopter should be prepared for this tiny fluffball to eventually become a beautiful, impressive big girl. But Maxine isn't just cute. She is a puppy who genuinely loves her people. She loves food, she loves playtime, she loves affection, and she especially loves snuggling up with her foster family after a busy day of puppy adventures. She has a wonderful way of turning all the care she receives into kisses, cuddles, and goofy little antics that keep everyone smiling. We can already picture Maxine growing into the kind of dog who will be a loyal family companion — the big fluffy girl who follows her people around, supervises everything going on in the house, and then happily stretches out beside you when the day's adventures are over. She is still a baby, and she will need a family committed to continuing her training, socialization, and guidance as she grows. But if you're looking for a puppy who is smart, affectionate, entertaining, and destined to become a magnificent big dog, Maxine may be your girl.Maxine is being fostered in Nashville, Tennessee. She can be adopted locally now and can be transported to the northeastern states soon.To inquire about this sweet, fluffy little girl, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and please tell us where you live when you reach out.

Story
Corky ❤️ A Sweet Boy Just Waiting to Feel Safe Corky is a handsome little poodle mix, who is about a year old and weighing 53 pounds, has been through a pretty big change in his young life. Corky and his brothers were left behind at a cabin when the renter moved away. For these dogs, that cabin and the life they knew was their entire world — and suddenly, everything familiar was gone. The man who raised them just disappeared and abandoned them. Because of that, Corky is understandably very shy when he is in a new or unfamiliar situation. New places, new people, and especially busy environments can be overwhelming for him here in his first week of being away from the original place he was born. If you take the time to slow down and let Corky figure things out at his own pace, you begin to see a completely different dog. Once Corky honestly settles in and realizes he is safe, he is an incredibly sweet boy. When we met him in a setting where he felt more comfortable, he was friendly and gentle. The shy behavior we see in unfamiliar places isn't who Corky is at his heart — it's simply how he copes when he isn't sure what is happening around him. Corky has lived with other dogs, including his dad and brothers, and seems comfortable having canine companionship around him. He enjoyed being outside and having the familiar routine of his previous life. We think another confident, friendly dog could potentially be a wonderful companion for him as he learns to trust and experience new things. Please don't let his initial shyness fool you — this boy is smart! Corky is very trainable and has so much potential. With patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and someone willing to celebrate the little victories, we believe his confidence will continue to grow. He may need a little extra time in the beginning, but every step forward will be worth it.   At the vet, Corky is especially shy and overwhelmed, which isn't surprising given everything that is new to him. But when he is somewhere he feels comfortable, we see that sweet personality starting to emerge. He just needs someone who understands that trust isn't built overnight.   Corky will do best with an adopter who is willing to support him on his journey rather than expect him to immediately be the confident, outgoing dog he may eventually become. He needs someone patient and kind, someone who will give him a safe place to decompress, a predictable routine, and plenty of encouragement. There is something especially rewarding about watching a shy dog realize that he is finally home. We believe Corky has the potential to become a wonderful, loving companion once he has the security and stability he has been missing. He didn't choose to be left behind. He didn't choose to have his whole world change. But with the right person beside him, Corky can learn that the next chapter of his life can be so much better than the first.    Corky is looking for someone who will give him the time, patience, and love he needs to blossom. In return, we think he will give you something pretty special — the joy of watching a sweet, smart little dog finally discover that he is safe, loved, and home.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in being the lifechanging person and family in Corky's life. Story
It was a hot Sunday afternoon, late in the day and a pick up truck approached the bridge going over the small river tributary.  Some black dots were scurrying around like little squirrels that were not sure that direction to go. Soon it would be dark and the group would be in even greater danger.  They were black Lab mix puppies.  All around 15 pounds and all were covered in fleas and of course dirt from never having had a bath in their life.  There were 7 and Jay Jay was one of those abandoned 7 pups.  The man wasn't going to take them home.  He wanted no part of them nor to be stuck with them at his place. A kind woman stepped forward and soon the news trickled down to Critter Cavalry's exceptional foster mom who took two of them in.    Jay Jay is learning what air conditioning is like and what a good bath scrub down feels like as the warm water pours over his body washing away his past.  He is a lucky pup and receiving love and good food and some normalcy that we are sure he never had before.  He is good with other dogs and still hesitant to just go running up quickly to a new stranger.  He wants to but he just cannot trust to do that yet.  He will come to those that he knows.  Two weeks is not enough time to reprogram a young soul that has never been a part of a family.  But since he is  young he will become new in all the ways of learning trust.  He knows about pee pads and would love a fenced yard to run with true fun and free abandon any time his human can let him outside.  This boy will be a 75 pound Lab when fully grown.  We think he might have a touch of hound in him.... no Pitbull that we can see at all.  We know nothing of his parents, just that someone carelessly threw his litter out of a car or truck on that bridge and sped off and never looked back.  Jay Jay is looking forward and we are encouraging him every day to learn a leash and harness can be his doorway to experiencing exciting new places and good fun walks.  If you are interested in this handsome boy who is ALL BOY DOG, then write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  He is ready for a new home and neutered with all shots and microchip and dewormings done.  Healthy, sweet and on his way to finding all the happiness that a new family is willing to give   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 25, 2026, 8:26 pm
