Story
We took Luna in about 2 years ago and she fit right in with our family off the bat. She did not come from a home with children and we have 3 so she had to get used to those crazies running around and having a ton of energy all the time. She quickly became part of the family and everyone loved having her around. Our other dog, Ari, loved having someone to run around with and play. One night the two were wrestling on our bed when a fight broke out. To this day we aren't sure why this happened but things were never the same. She now has random confrontations with our dogs and we cannot figure out why. It's very hard for us to do this but unfortunately we need to rehome her. We're hoping another loving family will take her in that doesn't have other pets and can love her the way we have for the last 2 years.

Story
Great dog... needs to run... dont have enough time or money to meet her needs... needs more attention than I can give her... she does need more training and social contact.; she has a lot of energy... probably not ready for children or other pets.. Loves to snuggle- loves bone marrow & chew toys!!!! And absolutely loves watching tv!!!! Very playful! I do have on 3 acres use a tie out to play fetch with her and we go for long walks - she’s strong so wears a prong collar when walking. Not a winter outside breed more likely a warm weather dog due to short fur.

Story
Meet Rocky, a sweet 11-year-old senior pup looking for his new home. Rocky is 15 pounds of affection and will gladly give your hand (or your nose!) kisses when you greet him. He has a very chill personality and spends the majority of his day peacefully napping, but he also enjoys exploring the rescue. When he finds a blanket, he'll burrow tightly and wrap himself up like a little burrito. It's adorable (and impressive)! Rocky is mostly blind and does a pretty good job navigating, but will need some time to familiarize himself with the layout of his future home. He needs daily eye drops and isn't too fussy about us administering them. He's been living with 20 other dogs at our rescue and does great with everyone. Rocky has a large lipoma on his right side and a grade 2 heart murmur. He also has a broken tooth and will need a dental, which VPR will cover at our vet. Rocky is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and recently had full blood work. To apply to adopt Rocky, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt

Story
This handsome boy has come a long way. Earlier this year, Gregory was found wandering as an emaciated stray in Connecticut. At first, we believed he was around 12 years old and possibly hospice due to his poor condition — he weighed just 52 pounds, was weak, and covered in sores and urine stains. It was clear he had suffered extreme neglect. After extensive veterinary care, a nutritious diet, and the freedom to just be a dog, Gregory has made an incredible transformation. He’s now a healthy 83 pounds and estimated to be closer to 7–8 years old. With the help of daily arthritis medication (carprofen), he’s rediscovered his inner puppy! When Gregory first arrived, he struggled a bit with marking, but that’s improved significantly since his neuter, and his house training continues to get better every day. Behaviorally, Gregory is a good boy, but he has never had any training and is now learning to be a dog after clear abuse and neglect. In our care, he has cohabited with numerous medium and small dogs, but he can be selective. While he has been completely fine with most, he has fixated on two of the pugs. Due to his size and playstyle, he may do best in a home without small dogs or cats. Proper introductions would be important as sometimes Gregory will say hello by humping. No one likes that. Gregory does enjoy being a couch potato, but he also loves to walk, play fetch, and do zoomies. He’s a big, strong boy who can be a little stubborn at times, so he’ll need someone comfortable handling his size on leash. He does struggle with frequent ear infections, which will likely be a lifelong, intermittent issue. If you’ve been looking for a big-headed, big-hearted right-hand companion, Gregory might be the pup for you. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines and has had full blood work. Story
Rosa is ready to roll into her new home! This scruffy pup is 7 years old and 14 pounds. She was found earlier this year as a stray in Central Falls, unable to use her hind legs. After her rescue, Rosa underwent a spay and had several benign mammary tumors removed. X-rays revealed a hemangioma inside her spinal cord. She's undergone months of massages, laser therapy, and daily range-of-motion exercises to improve her leg's circulation, but spinal surgery is risky and may not restore her mobility. Rosa now uses a custom wheelchair to keep her hind legs active with the support of a cart. Rosa loves her wheelchair and is always happy to go on stroller rides. She enjoys being held for her leg massages, though we recommended using a blanket when picking her up. Rosa has been living with over a dozen other dogs while in our care. She can be protective of her toys and likes her alone time, so a docile companion would be best. Taking on a paralyzed dog may be a little more work, but it is definitely so rewarding. Rosa is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. To apply to adopt Rosa, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt

Story
Lottie is a beautiful 9- 11 year old chihuahua mix who weighs just under 13lbs. This sweet girl originally came from Texas where she was found as a stray. Lottie is a moderately active pup who would love a home where she can go for walks or play outside and then cuddle on the couch. She loves the couch! She’s a perfect mix of active and chill and will make a great companion. Lottie has been great with all the dogs she’s met and frequently cuddles with the other pups. We wouldn’t consider Lottie a barker, but she can be vocal when she wants something. Lottie has a grade 4 heart murmur and recently had an echocardiogram. She was diagnosed with chronic valvular disease stage B1, which is very common in older dogs. She would need a repeat echocardiogram in 8 months. Lottie is currently on one daily heart medication (Vetmedin). Lottie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, recently had full blood work and an echo.
