Story
My name is Macadamia and I need someone with experience with a reactive dog. I am not friendly with strangers until I warm up to them, and I am not good with other dogs. When I have my people I am loyal and only want to be snuggled and loved on, especially snuggling up at night. I have had both ACLs repaired and have become a bionic bully. But even that hasn’t stopped me from loving running wild, dock diving, and chasing after my tennis ball! I have been super loving with my 1.5 year old human, but likely won’t do well around large groups of kids or strange kiddos that aren’t part of my pack Please if you want to have a spicy girl, that would thrive with some additional training and time, she will be an incredible dog..

Story
Bellamy #975 Age: 7.5 years old Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 60 pounds Bellamy and Cornelius are a bonded pair of basset males that came to MNBR when their family could no longer afford their medical care or basic necessities. Cornelius was in urgent need of bladder stone removal surgery and Bellamy needed a dental and has a leg that’s been swollen for months. Both boys were seen at our vet on 1/28 and got everything they needed. Nelly had one large, one medium, and several small stones removed from his bladder. He will need to be on a prescription diet going forward and should be checked regularly for stones. Belly was diagnosed with a hygroma which is more annoying than anything else and will hopefully subside with time. For more information on adopting with MNBR visit https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption MNBR adopts locally as much as possible so we can properly support our foster dogs and adopters if the need arises. Story
Bonnie #955 Age: 1 year old Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset Gender:Spayed Female Weight: 31 pounds Required: Fenced yard Bonnie #955 is a one-year-old spayed tricolor female basset with the sweetest brown face. She came to MNBR as a breeder release from Iowa and is making basset-sized strides at becoming a house dog. She’s comfortable in her kennel and lets herself in and out for potty breaks, although she’s still a bit of a work in progress there. She will need a fenced-in yard and a home without small children (noises are scary!) she is young and loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home, so a young dog buddy would be ideal. Take a load off and sit down at Bonnie’s level and she’ll come say hello. She’s also figuring out that toys are fun—and that everything is a toy if you wish hard enough. That includes kitchen towels, shoes, and even Christmas ornaments! Bonnie #955 is a one-year-old spayed tricolor female basset with the sweetest brown face. She is a great little guard dog and will let you know when someone new enters the house. As she begins to find her place, she seems to have a more assertive personality. Story
vanilla #927 Age: 5 years old Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset Gender: Spayed Female Weight: 37 pounds Requires: Fenced yard and confident companion dog There’s absolutely nothing plain about Vanilla #927! This 5-year-old tricolor basset is looking for her forever home with someone who appreciates her sweet demeanor. Plot twist, she actually prefers spray cheese from a can to ice cream cones. Who knew? ‘Nilla feels safest when wrapped in a blanket (because nothing scary could be under a blanket.) If she can be joined by a bunch of stuffed animals, all the better. Because she’s still shy, a home with a fenced-in yard and lots of patience is needed. She's mostly potty trained, although sometimes things are just...scary. Vanilla doesn’t need other dogs for comfort but does like to hide behind them when she’s scared (because she knows that having a slower friend means the T-rex will get them first.) Vanilla is still learning how to relax and trust. With time (and enough cheese), she’ll learn how to be the best companion basset the world has ever seen. Add some Vanilla to your house! Story
Orchid #967 Age: 6 years old Color & Breed: Red/White Basset Gender: Spayed Female Weight: 41 pounds Orchids bloom with care, and Orchid #967 is ready to thrive. This 6-year-old red-and-white female came from a commercial breeder and is ready to let her guard down and love with her whole heart. Orchid is learning many new things, like walking on a leash, getting housetrained, and what the heck is making those weird loud noises she doesn’t like. Orchid LOVES stuffed toys and enjoys the company of other dogs. She could adjust to any kind of yard situation, although a fence would be best since she’s still a little shy. A quiet home full of toys and patient people is just the type of “greenhouse” Orchid needs.
