Story

We got Cedar as a puppy after the passing of our 15 year old doodle. The intent was for us to have him while my daughter finished college and then she would take him. Cedar is very smart and learns very quickly. He is fully potty trained and understands basic commands. Cedar is an anxious dog and needs a consistent life to be calm. My daughter is very active and took him on long hikes, but she is also a teacher and had to leave him with roommates who had people coming and going. He is very affectionate and loves his owner. He loves to play catch and swim. He is possessive of food, but not with whomever is consistently feeding him. He is not possessive of toys. Cedar would benefit from being in an empty nest household with no young children. He likes to wrestle around, but he doesn't like to be startled or moved when he is sleeping. We are looking for a new home for Cedar because my daughter felt a more consistent environment would be good for him.

Story

Sadie was born 5/23/2017 in Canada and sold to a breeder in the Twin Cities area which is where we purchased her in 2020. She is a purebred Papillion but at about 8 pounds is a little larger than usual. Her veterinary care has been excellent: spayed, microchipped, current on immunizations, not on any medications, has had good dental care. Last dental cleaning was 9/2023. She knows basic commands such as sit, down, shake, and bow. She is not high energy but does love taking walks and sniffing. She is leash trained and will sit while you put on her leash. Is crate trained and sleeps in her crate. Prefer home with a fenced yard. Behaviorally: she is shy and prefers interaction on her terms such as an occasional pet. Does not like to be picked up (she will just get very tense). She likes women and will engage with a sniff, lick, and accept a pet. She avoids men and small children but does not bite. She will move away from them and go under a table or behind a couch/chair.

We’ve had this foster dog for about a month and absolutely love her! She came to us because of a death in her caretaker’s family and was well loved & trained. She’s great with kids (I’d recommend 4+ as she can accidentally bump into toddlers), loves everyone she meets, is kennel trained, house trained, remote collar trained, leash trained. Knows sit, lay, come, stay, shake, etc. She’s good with dogs she knows if you give her a chance to get to know them first. She loves going for walks (and is good on a leash) or just being outside with you in general, loves cuddling and chewing bones. She’s a short-haired lab-husky mix and has the most beautiful blue Husky eyes, 3 years old. Feel free to reach out with questions or to set up a time to come meet her.

Meet Allie, a 2019 edition of a party colored Australian Shepherd x Border Collie weighing in at 42 lbs. This beautiful gal came to NWMNAR because her previous owner had to leave abroad to help take care of in-laws and could not take Allie with. Allie loves going to obedience class and showing how smart she is. Allie needs an Aussie savy owner her can outsmart her. She is best with dogs the same size, she has prey drive towards rabbits and may not do well with cats or other smaller animals possibly including smaller tiny dogs. Allie takes time with strangers and will often back away barking. Allie has been scared of men with hats in the past. She can be a bit barky towards other dogs on walks, but has been learning to play nice. She can be dominant towards other dogs. Allie doesn't like plastic crates, but does just fine in wire crate. Allie must be crated in a vehicle otherwise she will run around in a vehicle pushing window switches until she gets out. Allie is best to go for a walk before a car ride to ensure she doesn't nervous defecate in the vehicle. Allie hies and sleeps under the bed to keep the monsters away. Allie does like to vocalize herself if she sees other dogs outside when she is peering out the windows. She has just started to play with toys and gets groomed twice a week with a brush. Meet little Bella Dawn, this beautiful 2017 edition of a Miniature Australian Shepherd came into rescue from a breeder release. Her life has been primarily living in a crate or kennel and used solely for breeding. She is now looking for a furever home where she will never have to worry about breeding again. She is learning to live the good life, plays with other dogs, keeps her kennel run clean, is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is learning to trust and is a little shy but coming out of her shell and wants to be loved. She is learning how to walk on a leash and learn her basic skills. Bella Dawn would love to have a home where she can be loved solely for herself and not for breeding.
