Story
ADOPT ME! Norman is a 4yr old lab mix that was adopted from us a few years ago after being abandoned with a momma dog and pups. Everyone was vetted and adopted out. Over the last 3 yrs, Norman has had training and been exceptionally loved but easily spooked and at times pushy which has caused some concerns with their children. He is housebroken and used to sleeping in bed, going on long walks, fully vetted, basic manners trained and more, but he needs a home with no kids. Norman has been the only fur child and can be reactive on leash to other dogs when he sees them. So ideally no other pets or an experienced person who can safely train and separate if needed. Please email us at aldr@animalluvrs.org for more information or fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org. ##1323064##

Story
ADOPT ME! We are sad to announce that Chase from the Paw Patrol litter is back with ALDR, because his family did not think he was a good fit any longer. Handsome fella is now a year old, about 80Ibs, incredibly sweet, but nervous around new friends and takes time to warm up. We are working on helping him build his confidence and helping him feel safe and loved! Chase is well behaved, crate trained, house trained and walks well on a leash! He can sometimes be dog selective, so he would do best in a home without another dog or with a patient adopter who is willing to do a slow and proper introduction to be sure he will get along with any other furry friends. He doesn't seem to react to squirrels or cats while out and about in the neighborhood, but he has barked at his foster guinea pig brother, because he was a little scared of him. Chase is currently in a home with children and doing well, but may not do well with all children since his fear reactions can sometimes be intimidating. His ideal home would be with a afamily that is willing to give him time to adjust and reassure him he is safe and loved. He has also started professional training to help him manage his reactions when scared and we are recommending he continues to make sure he is set up for success. Apply at animalluvrs.org to ADOPT! All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Any questions, concerns and suggestions, please feel free to contact us at ALDR@animalluvrs.org. ##1373323##

Story
Meet Edith! Edith is a 12yr old sweet senior we saved after her owners requested euthanasia because they didn’t want to care for her anymore. She doesn't hear or see well, but she always wants to be right beside you and follows wherever you go. She has been doing well in her foster home and is both dog and cat friendly. She is up to date and just had a full dental cleaning. Edith is searching for a calm retirement home where she can be snuggled would be her dream. ##1663622##

Story
Meet Izzy! Sweet Izzy originally came to us three years ago (mid-pandemic) after she was surrendered to an ER by her owners as a tiny puppy. She was thrown against the wall which caused a broken leg. On top of that she was also infested with internal parasites and fleas which caused her to become anemic. After a lot of care, Izzy made a full recovery into a healthy and happy pup - ultimately getting adopted.  Unfortunately, it was not her happily ever after as she has been returned after not getting along well with the older pup in the home. In her first foster home she did well with some of the pups but not all showing signs of selective reactivy. She is currently in a temporary foster home with no other dogs and doing amazingly well - but cannot stay there for long either. :(  Izzy loves being the princess and getting all the attention. Izzy is housebroken, loves to run and play, well mannered and social with all people. Due to size, strength and energy we would not recommend her in a home with small children or eldery relatives as she will knock them over when excited.  If interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org under the ADOPT tab, along with paying the $10 nonrefundable application fee through PayPal, which would be applied to the adoption fee. Feel free to email us at aldr@animalluvrs.org for more information. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. Story
Werewolf is a sweet 14 yr old Pomeranian with one tooth. He loves to snuggle and be by his people 24/7. He does have separation anxiety and will bark and pace when he knows his people are not home or he can't find them. He does mark but does very well wearing a belly band. He is fully blind but once he knows his surroundings he gets along like a champion. He loves his walks and to go on adventures and most of all snuggle. He likes a calm home with not a lot of busy going on. When Werewolf arrived to us he had a terrible skin infection, hairloss and what was left was matted. He has done great with Cytopoint injection, weekly medicated baths, and soft food. He loves to play and destroy squeak toys. He is such a sweet loving guy loving for the best retirement home to love him forever.  ##1702496##

Story
Ripley is 2 years old, 50lbs gorgeous sweet hound girl. Ripley is one of our very much special pups in rescue. Below is a bit of her perks and quirks as well as what her ideal home would be: Perks -  Housebroken Crate trained Not destructive Knows all basic commands including "go to bed" for her crate and "shake" Great with other dogs and cats once properly introduced and not around her food.  Great with older children that are not afraid of her.  LOVES to play fetch and the pool- including fetching/diving into the pool.  Has been out on kayaks and boats - aside from barking at strangers sometimes - she loves it.  Paid year of private training transferable in the local area. Quirks - Exceptionally anxious pup. Loves her family and routine. New things freak her out altogether. ***working on teaching her to relax and slow down altogether*** Guests/strangers freak her out - she will bark and act tough. ***working on this and she is doing so much better with consistent and guided training*** Has never bit anyone BUT in all honesty I can see her biting someone that makes her feel cornered.  Her stranger danger will make vet visits scary so I would highly recommend a vet office that is comfortable working with fearful dogs. Ideal home -  No smaller children or anyone who is afraid of dogs. She will feed off that anxiety as well. Active yet confident handler that will continue to work with her confidence building and socialization in a controlled environment with a licensed trainer (included in her adoption fee). She knows her commands. She is very smart but due to her high anxiety and low confidence - she is always on edge. Previous experience being "trained" with a shock collar has made her more fearful so positive reinforcement and giving her a "job" or hobby would be the best approach.  In-ground pool! This is her favorite activity and stress reliever. She jumps in and does some laps multiple times a day. She loves to fetch her toy into and has even participated in a dock diving class at Courteous Canine.  A household that does not have guests over all the time. She is currently not the type of pup that wants to go out to bars and events but loves walks and hikes to explore. She is truly a homebody primarily so if you are looking for a dog to take out to social gatherings or tend to host home parties - Ripley is not interested. Ripley is gorgeous, young and sweet - but she is not an easy or beginner's pup. She needs someone who is willing to understand she needs to feel safe and comfortable with people and places before you get her sweet side. She would rather keep to herself until she trusts you...then you get a sweet, goofy girl...but this can take weeks of consistency and patience. She is not aggressive but fearful and reactive (barking and howling). As much as we would love her to have a home of her own again...we do not want her to jump around so much and truly want someone who is a right fit and 100% committed to making it work.  If interested in adopting Ripley, please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org or email us at aldr@animalluvrs.org for more information. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped.
