Say hello to Huey!
Huey is a sweetly affectionate, energetic boy who thought he’d found his forever home. He spent four years with a family who cared about him but ultimately decided they couldn’t keep him when it turned out he’s too lively to be around small children.
About Huey:

Huey would do best in a home where he’s the only pet as he never quite learned the lesson that sharing is caring! He has some resource guarding behaviors around food, toys, and human attention when it comes to other dogs competing for what he considers “his.” He has lots of energy but would really like to spend most of it playing with his people, walking, hiking, running, or camping. (He is an absolute gentleman on a leash and even has his own camping sweater!) Huey would love an active home, preferably with a yard for him to run and play. You can win his heart with a game of tug-o-war or fetch.
He is very nervous around new people and situations and will need a patient home to teach him that he is loved, despite having the anxious energy of a 45-pound chihuahua. Once he decides he’s safe, he becomes incredibly affectionate and just wants to be by your side. Or in your lap. Or at your feet. Anywhere scratchies are available, really.
Huey is a very smart boy: he knows “off,” “down,” “sit,” and “kennel.” He is house-trained and crate-trained.
