Story
Birthdate:  04/19/2016Breed: One of a kindWeight:   97.8 lbsThis distinguished lady is not just your average dog—she’s a lounging aficionado with a penchant for cozy evenings and questionable human habits. You see, Nala has been pondering this pressing question: Is "Netflix and Chill" still a thing? Because let me tell you, that's right up her alley!Picture this: Nala sprawled out on the couch, her paws perfectly positioned for maximum snuggle efficiency, eyes glued to the screen as she tunes into yet another rom-com featuring an overzealous golden retriever. She barks at the screen during romantic moments—clearly rooting for love while simultaneously judging all of your snack choices. With her favorite blanket draped over her like a stylish cape, Nala is ready to embark on weekend binges and chase away those pesky “what should we watch?” discussions that lead to endless scrolling. So yes, if you’re looking for an ideal binge-watching companion who won’t judge your third bowl of popcorn or side-eye you when you're crying during the sad parts—Nala's your girl!Walk-ins are welcome! Stop by during our open hours to meet our available dogs!!Before you can adopt, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at pawscrossedny.org/dog-adoption-questionnaire. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.January 19, 2025, 12:48 am

Story
Birthdate: 9/22/19Breed: One of a kindWeight:  48 lbsA note from Evan’s top fan: There are so many things I could say about Evan, but the first is this: I wish he could be my dog. I’ve never known a pup more loving, more adoring, or more in tune with the people he cares about. Evan has a way of looking straight into your soul, and everyone who sees us together comments on how clearly he loves me. And the best part? He will love you like that too. Evan — or Schmev or Schmevan, as we lovingly call him — gives the best cuddles. He’ll look up at you, tuck his head under your chin, nuzzle in, and just stay there for a moment (you can see it in his third photo). It still melts me every single time. I have the honor of having Evan in my office five days a week, and he is truly the perfect gentleman. He naps in his bed behind me or lounges on the couch, never makes a fuss, and only occasionally comes over to ask for attention when I’ve been glued to my computer for too long.  Evan walks beautifully on a harness and responds to the cue “with me.” He loves swimming, fetch, car rides, and most of all, his stuffed animal toys. He’s incredibly eager to please and learns quickly — he mastered “up” and “down” in no time, and he knows all his basic commands, including “go to your place.” (His dog bed) The day you take him home will be one of the hardest days for me — I will miss him more than I can say — but it will also be one of the happiest. Knowing Evan has found a home of his own will make the hard parts all worth it. I can promise you this: you’ll be gaining a loyal, affectionate, and endlessly loving pup who will be forever grateful for being rescued.Walk-ins are welcome!
