Good with dogs, Not good with cats,
Story
Location is Westminster, MD. Wilfred is looking for his next adventure! Wilfred is approximately 7 years old and is an Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix. He is wicked smart and has medium energy and would do best with daily exercise. He would make an excellent hiking partner, agility prospect and would excel at learning tricks. He loves catching frisbees and balls and enjoys squeak toys. He walks well on a leash, but also has great recall off-leash. He is very obedient and has a kind heart. He loves riding in the car and will patiently wait for you to return. His ideal home would be with an individual, couple, or the right family. He previously lived with small children and was very gentle. Just like most ACD’s, he likes to get to know his people and approach on his own terms. Now, to what he does not like…NO CATS!! He had a terrible experience with a cat in his previous life and he is still trying to get revenge. He will chase small animals, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, but can be verbally redirected easily. He previously lived with another female dog and is sharing my house with two male dogs. I think with the proper introduction, he would get along with either sex. I would recommend that they be about the same size. I do not think he would tolerate small, vocal, or anxious dogs. I would also recommend that his fur friends be confident…he previously lived with an insecure dog, and he fed off her anxious energy. I have calm, confident dogs and he has been fine. He is crate trained and house broken. He can be left out of the crate and has not had any accidents or damaged any furniture. If he gets anxious or unsure of a situation, gunfire, or fireworks, he likes to grab a squeak toy which redirects his attention and calms him down. I live near a gun range, and he has gotten less reactive to the noise since he first arrived. The dog has a lot of heart. He tries extremely hard to please. If you think Wilfred would make your home complete, please reach out to me with any questions. He is currently being fostered in Westminster, MD. Foster, J. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location is Norton, MA. If you’re looking for a sweet, sassy, and silly dog that will absolutely adore you, meet you in all of your feelings, and look at you like you’re their whole world, look no further than Ziva, the 40 lb., 6.5-year-old, Australian Cattle Dog mix.  She’s incredibly intelligent, crate trained, fully house trained and can even ring a bell to tell you when she needs to use the bathroom! She knows all your standard tricks, but also has a handful of really fun ones like spinning, high fives, and playing dead. She really enjoys the toughest of chew toys, food puzzles, tug of war, and snuggles and scratches. She’s terrible at fetch! She will chase the ball but then will insist you chase her to get it back. Huge fan of sticks. You will inevitably have to tell her that she’s given you enough kisses and must cease such, and though she will protest profusely, she will eventually acquiesce!     Ziva needs to be the only dog in the home.  Ziva will not want to co-exist with any other pets and is currently separated from the other dog in the home by alternating crate time.  A fenced backyard would be best where she can run freely to get her needed exercise away from other dogs.  Dog parks and walks around other dogs would not do well for her unfortunately.    Ziva will sit next to you on the couch and love the quiet attention as well.  She won’t hog the blankets at night but will frequently crawl under them and lay against your side.  If the two dogs here did get along then I would be keeping them both but two years of keeping them separated in the same home has shown that she must have her own home.   Ziva is in Norton, MA and is looking for her forever home. If you are that home, or have any other questions about Ziva, please reach out and contact johan.stewart@gmail.com. Story
Location is LaGrangeville, NY. AVAILABLE Hero Located in Lagrangeville, NY. Attention high drive dog lovers! Hero is a high drive young boy who is seeking a passionate, active owner to thrive with. Hero came to us from an overcrowded shelter in GA and has been spending some time with his foster/trainer to better handle his high prey drive and to learn some manners. Because of his energy, focus and herding tendencies we believe Hero would do well as a sport dog and he would really LOVE to try some new sports and activities.  Hero does have a high toy drive and he will work hard for a fun toy and a good treat as his food drive is med-high. He has enjoyed going on runs with his foster and is non reactive while on a run with his handler. Hero has some anxieties that we are working through in foster care. He has made major progress towards vehicles, with R+ behavior mod. Given that he still needs to improve with this; a fenced yard is required. He sometimes is excitable on leash when seeing a new dog and greeting visitors. When up close; dog leash greetings are easy for him! He is very social with dogs and people but lacks manners which he is continuing to work on.  Hero should be crated at all times when unsupervised and he is still working on his crate manners but has made a lot of improvement.  He is mostly house trained and he does very well being handled for grooming and vet visits. Due to the possibility of nipping and plenty of jumping; children in the home should be 12+ dog savvy.   He may do well with 1 well trained dog sibling. He will need a slow integration. Cats are not recommended due to his reactivity to outdoor cats.  He weighs 35lbs, is approximately 3 years old, neutered and current on preventatives and vaccines.  If you are interested and have some questions; please email  board@acdra.org. Story
Location is Gloucester, MA.   Ginger will be 2 in November, about 35 lbs, spayed, micro chipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, and is on monthly heartworm/flea tick prevention. She has been with me for a bit over a year and its beyond time for her to find her family.  Ginger is from GA where she was found on the side of the road with her sister (Snap) and Momma (Cookie). She was fostered with her sister who has been adopted. Ginger is wondering where her family is??? She wants to sleep in the big bed with her humans just like her sister does. Gingers wish list......a home with a yard to run and explore. A quiet area without a lot of noise or traffic (shes a country girl). A family who is home more than not.  A family with patience,  and time to continue her training and introduce her slowly to new things. Maybe a furry brother or sister to play with.  She is very gentle and cautious with children.  Ginger would not do well in a busy appartment environment (she can be vocal) or crated long hrs daily.  She has no fear of thunder or the weekend fireworks. Ginger would be a great hiking buddy.  Ginger is housebroken but has an issue with submissive peeing,  it only seems to happen with my Grandson when he first comes in the door and then she is fine. Her crate is a safe place when new people are visiting. It's best to slowly introduce new people outside where she can take her time sniffing and meeting them. We work on sit, paw and down, she is so smart and does well on leash, though easily distracted by all the sniffs and new experiences. She does very well riding in the car, and is very easy to vet, they all love her. Ginger is still just a big pup who loves to play with her Foster siblings. Ginger is just the sweetest girl, who loves to show off her pearly white teeth, her underbite makes her so uniquely adorable. Ginger can't help it, her teeth are always showing.  Ginger is just a very happy little dog, her tail is always wagging.  She loves everyone, gets along very well with my young  Grandsons when they aren't bouncing around the house, she'll just find a quiet place until they sit, then she will come in for sniffs, love and kisses. Ginger is very submissive to other dogs, she will just lay down waiting, wanting acceptance, shes a lover, not a fighter. Once the threat is gone and she feels safe she joins in the play. Ginger is 1 of 4 dogs in my home and they all get along wonderfully. She likes to stalk the chipmunks who taunt her from the other side of the fence, play with balls and squeaky toys. She is sleek and fast , loves to run laps with her partner in crime, Blair.  They have a strong bond and are always together,  either playing or laying on the couch.   Ginger can be a bit vocal when she wants out of her crate, or its feeding time, she is a great watch dog, will let you know if someone she doesn't know is outside the fence. She sleeps all night in her crate with no issues, and is crated when I have to run errands, other than that she has free range with the others. When I get home from errands I am thoroughly examined from head to toe, she has to sniff me all over to see where I've been. Ginger enjoys watching TV and loves to cuddle up with you on the couch.  Some of her favorite things are shoes and socks and she seems to have a foot fetish so keep those socks on or she'll give you a pedicure.  Ginger loves the water and likes to chase the minnows around. One of her favorite things to do is just sniff, take it all in, nose in the air, wind blowing her ears and just sniff! Another favorite thing is to dig, she digs standing up, she digs lying down. and sometimes she digs sideways. It's so much fun ! If you would like to know more about Ginger please reach out to her Foster mom Shelleynugent@msn.com To see more photos and videos of Ginger please follow the link below https://www.facebook.com/dingodowneast/ Fostering in Gloucester, Massachusetts Complete an Application: https://www.acdra.org/adoption-applicationSeptember 22, 2023, 10:16 am

Story
Location is a Wilmington, DE.   Biscuit is a female cattle dog mix about a year old (born 6/7/22) and she resembles a Labrador retriever and/or chocolate lab. Her mother was an Australian cattle dog mix. She weighs around 56 lbs and is completely housetrained, crate trained and can have full run of the house when unsupervised. She is very affectionate and would thrive with a companion dog to boost her confidence. She loves to cuddle on the couch and at bedtime. She had successful hip dysplasia surgery a few months ago and would benefit from daily joint supplement. She is medium energy and when excited displays wiggly butt. She has excellent recall. She is initially nervous meeting new people but opens up after several minutes. She walks great on leash but enjoys walks more with a companion buddy. A home with a secure fenced yard would be ideal and at least a 30 minute walk daily.     She is being fostered in a home with multiple dogs and no issues. She has a happy-go-lucky personality. She has not been cat tested or exposed to young children.    She is current on all flea and tick and heart-worm preventatives and has been spayed. She is being fostered in Wilmington, Delaware. Story
Location is Pittsburgh, PA.   Meet Sweet Sadie Jane   Sadie came to me from a shelter in GA after she was surrendered with her pups.  She didn’t do very well in the shelter, especially after her pups moved on, and quickly needed rescuing.  That’s how this young southern belle ended up near Pittsburgh with the Australian Cattle Dog Assoc. and her foster mom. Sadie is cattle dog mix who is approximately 1 year old and very loving.  Within a few days, she was jumping up on the bed at night to sleep and would curl right up against me.  Now, after some pets, she has become my foot warmer.  Sadie rolls over easily for belly rubs and loves to give kisses.  At night, when relaxing, her favorite place to be is on your lap.  She LOVES to play fetch, but definitely didn’t know what to do with the ball at first.  She would run after it, jump on it with her front paws, and run back to me.  Minus the ball.  But with some treats, she quickly learned what the game was really all about.  Sadie knows sit, drop it, leave, and walks well on a leash.  She gets along fine with other dogs, but she pretty much ignores them, so if you are looking for a playmate for your dog, she may not the one for you.  Sadie is actually a pretty mellow dog.  While she LOVES to play ball, go for rides, and go to the dog park, she also loves to curl up on the couch and nap, or chew quietly on a bone.   Sadie has come a long way in a short period of time, but she still has a ways to go.  We have been working on her socialization.  She is still very wary of people, especially men.  Sadie is NOT fond of a crate.  While she will go in with a treat as enticement and is quiet, she does not keep a clean crate.  And therefore, when you come home, Sadie is not clean . She did exhibit some separation anxiety initially, but that seems to have tapered off as she has become more comfortable and confident in her surroundings.  Sadie and her foster male cattle dog sibling share the basement when I am at work.  They have their dog beds, nylabones, water and there is no issue, except, Sadie still will not keep a “clean” room.  When I am home and she is with me, Sadie goes outside to do all business.  Unfortunately, when left alone, she is still a work in progress.    Sadie is a solid 40 pounds, has been spayed and is up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives. She is being fostered near Pittsburgh, PA.  If Sadie sounds right for family and/or you, please go to ACDRA.ORG to fill out an application and forward questions to trearick@comcast.net.     Complete an Application: https://www.acdra.org/adoption-application September 22, 2023, 10:16 am
