Story
Meet Hulk! Hulk is a fun-loving, playful boy with a big personality and an even bigger smile. He absolutely loves being outside—whether it’s exploring the yard, playing fetch, or heading out for a walk. Food is one of his greatest motivators, and walks are one of his favorite adventures, though fair warning: Hulk is a strong and enthusiastic guy who’s very excited about where he’s going! This happy boy greets everyone he meets with a wagging tail, a joyful grin, and often a toy in his mouth, ready to invite you into a game of fetch. Hulk thrives on human attention and would love a home where he can soak up all the love for himself. He prefers to be the only dog in the home and likes to keep his food to himself, so a single-dog household would be his ideal match. He would do well in a home with teens and up. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s full of energy, affection, and personality, Hulk is ready to be your one-and-only best friend. Ready to Adopt? Story
Meet Bruce, a 2-year-old Foxhound mix who is truly as handsome as he is lovable. He came to us from our friends at Northampton Animal Control with glowing reviews for his charming personality, and he has lived up to every one of them. Bruce greets each day—and every dog and person he meets—with a big, happy tail wag and a bright, joyful spirit. Bruce loves to play fetch, enjoys a good snuggle, and has a wonderfully sweet and gentle nature. He’s quiet, smart, and an all-around easy companion who seems to fit in wherever he goes. His affectionate personality and friendly demeanor make him a joy to spend time with. Bruce does have significant skin allergies that will require lifelong treatment and preventative care to keep him comfortable and healthy, so a vet reference is required for his adoption. We do not have any history of Bruce living with cats or children. If you’re ready to provide ongoing medical care and are looking for a loyal, loving best friend, Bruce may be your perfect match. Story
BRAD is a nervous boy who has been settling in with his foster, decompressing, and showing himself to be an affectionate pup. OTHER PETS: Brad was unsure meeting dogs at the shelter and would likely do best as an only pet. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER Brad will do best with someone who has experience with positive reinforcement while helping a nervous dog gain confidence. Brad has some anxiety going through doors, and meeting new people, so a slow introduction to new stimuli and the world will be essential in helping him feel comfortable in a new home and environment. While he has been nervous going through doors, barriers should be used while he is still nervous so he doesn't accidentally become startled and find himself lost. [Some Experience] KIDS: Brad bonds closely with his people as he becomes more relaxed. He is very affectionate and social, but young children may be frightening to him. He would be a best fit for teens and older humans that would be able to recognize when he needs space, and when he requests interactions. [15+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Brad enjoys playing in the foster's fenced yard, and so far is going on short walks as he builds confidence and takes in his surroundings. He is a combination of playful and affectionate, and will benefit from regular exercise, and plenty of mental enrichment such as food puzzles and games to help meet his needs. Mental stimulation is incredibly important for all dogs, and can help worried dogs cope with the world. Because he is nervous, a leash or fence will be necessary for all outings. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Brad bond with his new owner as well as help him learn new skills and tricks. Positive reinforcement, and counterconditioning will help him create happy associations with things he finds scary. Helping Brad continue to blossom will mean letting him learn about new things at his own pace without being forced. GROOMING: Occasional brushing will help keep Brad's coat clean. Story
OTHER PETS: Neil was eager to greet other dogs and was comfortable going off and doing his own thing as well. Though he didn't seem interested in playing, he would likely do well with another social dog in the home that will allow him to have his own space when he wants/needs it. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Neil is currently very grabby with hands, and will likely need a specific behavior management plan using positive reinforcement and counterconditioning, and not punishment. He has not shown any signs of resource guarding while at TJO, but he's fixated on hands. He would do best with someone that has experience and current knowledge of positive reinforcement training, but could do well with someone that has owned dogs before and is willing to learn as well. [Experienced]KIDS: Because of how mouthy he can be, Neil would do best with older kids that can understand how to interact with him and when to let him have his own space. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: While Neil doesn't exhibit a high energy level here at TJO, this could change in a home environment as he grows more comfortable. He would likely do best with various forms of mental enrichment to keep his body calm and his mind engaged. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: Neil arrived at TJO severely underweight, and is currently still working on reaching his ideal weight with a strict re-feeding diet. Otherwise, he seems to be in good health currently and will likely do well with routine vet appointments down the line. [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Neil has a habit of trying to grab people's hands with his mouth. He will likely need a specific management plan based on positive reinforcement as he continues to adjust to his environment and figures out how to politely interact with people. As he continues on his positive training journey, he will work best with someone that can be dedicated to helping him understand better ways to seek interaction, and can work with and understand positive reinforcement training methods. [Intense]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]January 12, 2026, 5:05 pm

Story
Pokey is a happy boy who enjoys playing with toys, engaging with humans, and trying to be friends with other dogs. He reads body langage well and settles well with other dogs but will need support as he learns how to interact just as appropriately with humans.OTHER PETS: Pokey get overlys aroused when meeting other dogs, but reads the body language of other dogs well and settles. This might be off putting to some dogs and they might not feel comfortable with Pokey even when he does settle. Pokey's best fit would be with a tolerant, well socialized dog who communicates well and provides feedback to playmates; he should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption.[Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Pokey is still working on his leash walking skills and is a strong dog in general, he would be best suited to someone who has experience with positive reinforcement and interacting with strong dogs. [Some Experience] KIDS: Pokey has not engaged in resource guarding while at TJO (he is intense with food and we utilize a slow feeder during mealtimes) and is comfortable with handling. He is playful with toys and has lots of energy. Pokey would do best with humans who would be able to teach him alternatives for connecting with humans other than jumping. As with all our adoptable dogs, Pokey should meet any minor humans he would be living with prior to adoption. [12+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Pokey has a lot of energy and enjoys running around outside as well as playing with toys. He is a curioius dog as well and enjoys exploring, but he does get aroused and will need the support of a patient owner, some positive reinforcement, and an active household to keep him engaged. Regular exercise and plenty of mental enrichment such as food toys and puzzles will help meet his needs, and go a long way in addressing over-arousal. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement will help Pokey bond with his new owner and build confidence, while learning life skills and new tricks. Story
Bella was adopted from a shelter. We have had Bella for about a year and a half. She is about 3yrs old. She lived with dogs when she was being fostered. She will bark at dogs on walks but is able to be walked if you give her treats. She knows her commands. House and crate trained. Loves to cuddle on the couch or in bed. Gets silly zoomies. Gives kisses. She will eat non food things if they smell like food or had food in them ( such as eating the bag the food is in ). You must keep things safely away from her. She is wonderful with my husband and me and other adults but not comfortable around our children. She does not enjoy being touched by children. She has bitten (nipped as there were no injuries) my youngest child twice in the face when she tried to kiss her. She had growled at my oldest child once when she pet her. She needs a home where she is the only dog and where she will not be around children. She is so sweet and loving but just isn't comfortable with kids.
